Ghazal
Akha Bhagat 29
This ghazal uses the analogy of a tree to illustrate how a general perspective differs from a detailed one, and only a true guru can resolve such misunderstandings. It suggests that all spiritual endeavors originate from the ultimate reality (Brahman). The individual soul, asleep within itself, experiences worldly sufferings as if in a dream.

જેમ બાધું જોતાં એકજ ઝાડ
વિગતે જોતાં ભાંગે જાડ્ ય;

એ બ્રહ્મઉદર માંહે લી રિદ્ધિ;
Awakening, Yoga, mantra's fruit, and Siddhi,All these are riches held in Brahma's cosmic belly.

આત્મલક્ષમાં નહિ પર આપ
વણસંતાને કે નો બાપ;
Not for self-gain, nor for others' grace,Who is a father without a child's embrace?
This couplet emphasizes that actions should not be driven by self-interest or the desire for others' approval, but by the spirit of giving. It rhetorically asks how one can be a father without children, highlighting that true purpose is found in giving to others.
