Ghazal
This ghazal explores the mysterious and profound power of nature, using the ebb and flow of the ocean as its central metaphor. It contemplates the inherent rhythm of existence, finding a deep existential meaning in the cyclical nature of tides. Ultimately, it compares the ocean's rise and fall to the constant ups and downs of human life, suggesting that every low point precedes a new high.

કંઈ તો છે કે જેથી ઊંચોનીચો થાય છે દરિયો;
Something causes the ocean to rise and fall;To me, the ocean appears as sad as we are.
The poet says that something causes the ocean to rise and fall; to him, the ocean appears as sorrowful as he himself is.

દિવસ આખો દિવસના તાપમાં શેકાય છે દરિયો;
The sea, all day, bakes in the heat of the day;And at night, seeing restlessness, the sea is in dismay.
The sea endures the day's scorching heat. At night, witnessing restlessness, the sea becomes agitated.

Who says the ocean never overflows?It stumbles through the moonlight all night long!
Who claims the ocean never overflows? The ocean stumbles and sways all night in the moonlight.

It doesn't even know, what fire burns within! The sea, carefree, bathes in the flowing moonlight.
describes someone unaware of the intense internal turmoil or 'fire' they harbor. Outwardly, they appear calm and untroubled, much like the sea enjoying a serene bath in the moonlight.

God knows, what did he witness in the moonlight's gleam!That at his door, the ocean stands and dries, it would seem!
God knows what he witnessed in the moonlight, that at his door, the ocean stands drying up.

Life, if you truly ask, is like their pupil,Sometimes it expands, sometimes it contracts, the ocean!
Life is compared to their eye's pupil, which sometimes expands and sometimes contracts, much like the ocean's ebb and flow. This illustrates life's ever-changing and fluctuating nature.

To settle down and find its home, that seems to be its destined place,For in the eyes of everyone, the ocean shows its face!
To settle down and find its abode, that is precisely the place, where the ocean peeks into everyone's eyes.

He is very cunning, their company is not good to keep, Even a river, mighty as it is, the ocean sweeps away!
He is very cunning, so their company is not good to keep. Even a mighty river is swept away by the ocean.

Whenever you look, 'Ghayal' is surging just like this,What of the day? Even for a moment at night, the ocean cannot be silenced!
'Ghayal' is always restless and turbulent, just like the ocean never calms down even for a moment, not even at night, let alone during the day.
