Ghazal
इश्क़ मुझ को नहीं वहशत ही सही
This ghazal expresses the intense and often desperate longing of a lover. इश्क़ मुझ को नहीं वहशत ही सही
मेरी वहशत तिरी शोहरत ही सही
If love is not my fate, then let it be madness; And if my madness becomes your renown, so let it be.
If love is not my fate, then let madness be my lot; and if my madness becomes your fame, then so be it.

क़त्अ कीजे न तअल्लुक़ हम से
कुछ नहीं है तो अदावत ही सही
Do not break off your relations with us,If there is nothing else, then let it be enmity.
Do not sever your ties with us. If there is nothing else, then even enmity is acceptable.

मेरे होने में है क्या रुस्वाई
ऐ वो मज्लिस नहीं ख़ल्वत ही सही
What shame is there in my very being?If no great assembly, then solitude's agreeing.

हम भी दुश्मन तो नहीं हैं अपने
ग़ैर को तुझ से मोहब्बत ही सही
We are not our own enemies, after all; So be it, if others indeed love you.

अपनी हस्ती ही से हो जो कुछ हो
आगही गर नहीं ग़फ़लत ही सही
Whatever is to be, let it be from my own being; If not enlightenment, then let heedlessness be.
Whatever is to happen, let it originate from my own being; if awareness is not present, then heedlessness is acceptable. It's about accepting everything that comes from one's own existence.

उम्र हर-चंद कि है बर्क़-ए-ख़िराम
दिल के ख़ूँ करने की फ़ुर्सत ही सही
Though life, it is a lightning flash, so brief,At least it grants time to make the heart bleed.
Although life is as swift as lightning and very fleeting, it still provides enough time to deeply wound the heart or experience profound sorrow.

हम कोई तर्क-ए-वफ़ा करते हैं
न सही इश्क़ मुसीबत ही सही
Do we ever renounce our loyalty? If not love, then let it be adversity.
We never abandon our loyalty. If it isn't love, then let it be adversity itself.

कुछ तो दे ऐ फ़लक-ए-ना-इंसाफ़
आह ओ फ़रियाद की रुख़्सत ही सही
O unjust heavens, at least grant me this much,Permission to sigh and to make my pleas.

हम भी तस्लीम की ख़ू डालेंगे
बे-नियाज़ी तिरी आदत ही सही

यार से छेड़ चली जाए 'असद'
गर नहीं वस्ल तो हसरत ही सही
Let flirtation with the beloved continue, Asad, if union is not to be, then longing itself will suffice.
