जुनूँ की दस्त-गीरी किस से हो गर हो न उर्यानी
This ghazal delves into the overwhelming nature of passion and sorrow, suggesting that madness finds its true expression in utter vulnerability. It portrays an incessant restlessness of the heart and a profound longing for lost joys, holding fate accountable for past grievances as if stolen goods were a debt owed.

जुनूँ की दस्त-गीरी किस से हो गर हो न उर्यानी
गरेबाँ-चाक का हक़ हो गया है मेरी गर्दन पर
How can madness find support, if not through its own nakedness? The right of a torn collar has fallen upon my neck.
How can madness find support if not through its own nakedness or uninhibited display? The right to tear one's collar, a sign of extreme distress, has now become an obligation upon my neck.

Like paper set ablaze, such is the magic of unrest,A thousand mirrored hearts, by a single throb possessed,Are bound to its wing, with every tremor expressed.
The magic of restlessness is like a burning piece of paper, to whose single tremor a thousand mirrored hearts are bound.

Asad, in what astonishing manner does the sacrificed tell the killer:"Practice your graceful cruelty; the blood of both worlds, be it on my neck!"
Asad questions the astonishing manner in which the one about to be sacrificed tells the killer: "Practice your graceful cruelty; let the blood of both worlds be on my neck."

The charm of constancy is tyranny's delight for the foe,For lightning's ecstasy, like a moth, its wings on the harvest does strew.
The magic of unity is the delight of tyranny for the enemy, as the ecstasy of lightning, like a moth, scatters its wings over the harvest.

Formality is the piercing thorn of restlessness's plea, for a garment binds the thread to the needle's eye, you see.
Formality itself is a piercing thorn of a restless plea. This is because, much like a garment binds and guides the thread through the needle's eye, the restless plea imposes this formality.
