Ghazal
मिलती है ख़ू-ए-यार से नार इल्तिहाब में
This ghazal explores the paradoxical nature of love, where the lover finds solace even in the agony inflicted by the beloved's temperament. It delves into the endless torment of separation, the sleepless nights spent waiting for a beloved who only appears in dreams, and the bittersweet resignation to the beloved's predictable responses. The poet expresses a profound and enduring devotion despite the constant suffering.

The fire, in its blazing intensity, derives its nature from the beloved's temperament. I would be an infidel if I did not find solace even in torment.

How long I've been in this ruined world, what can I say?If nights of separation, too, I were to reckon and weigh.
It's hard to convey how long I've been in this ruined world, especially if I were to also account for the nights of separation.

So that I may never sleep again, consumed by endless wait,They promised to return, when they appeared in my dream's gate.
Those who appeared in my dream promised to return, with the result that I may never again sleep throughout my life, consumed by their anticipation.

When did the wine glass ever reach me in their gathering? I wonder if the cup-bearer has perhaps mixed something into the wine.

A million affections are matched by one stolen glance; a million adornments, by one frown of displeasure.
One stolen glance (from the beloved) outweighs millions of affections; similarly, one frown of displeasure can spoil millions of adornments.
