Ghazal
This ghazal describes a love and pain that is unique and extraordinary, far from the ordinary. The poet views pain itself as a sweet pleasure, even when seeking a cure for the pain. The speaker is willing to sacrifice his hopes and even his lifeblood to nurture the garden of his love, despite the sorrowful silence of the stars at night.

A unique grace, unlike any era before,
Whose dwelling place, O Beloved, do you call your own?
They possess a unique grace, unlike any era before. O God, in which dwelling place do these lovers reside?

Even in the cure for pain, I die for the sweetness of pain;
Those who were thorns in the bark, I pulled out with the tip of a needle.
Even in the cure for pain, I die for the sweetness of pain; those thorns that were in the bark, I pulled out with the tip of a needle.

May the Lord keep blossoming the garden of my hopes,
I have nurtured these saplings, so let me give my heart's blood.
Oh Lord, may the garden of my hopes keep blossoming; I have nurtured these saplings, so I am ready to give my heart's blood.

The silence of the stars makes me cry at night,
My love is unique, and my sorrows are unique.
The silence of the stars makes me cry at night; my love is unique, and my sorrows are unique.

Do not ask me about the intoxication of living in luxury, / For I have blown out the lamps of hundreds of such pleasures.
Do not ask me about the intoxication of being wasted in pleasures, for I have blown out the lamps of hundreds of such pleasures.

Oh, don't be lonely with a companion on the path to the destination, oh spark; we too are destined to perish.
Oh spark, don't be lonely with a companion on the path to the destination; we too are destined to perish.

The hope of the nymph has taught everything to the poet, / These saints appear simple and innocent to behold.
The hope of the nymph has taught everything to the poet; these saints appear very simple and innocent to behold.

My poems, O Iqbal, why aren't they dear to me? / These streams of pain from my broken heart are too much.
