Raise your hand from the love of the mountains, and drown yourself in your own being; do not let the blood of your heart be spilled in the traces of the saintly beauty.
This couplet is a profound call for introspection. Allama Iqbal advises us to let go of the superficial attachments of worldly love and transient desires (Ishq-e-Bustan). Instead, the focus must shift inward—immerse yourself in your own true self (Khudī). Furthermore, he cautions that in the sanctity of spiritual pursuit, we must never compromise or waste the purity of our inner spirit, the very lifeblood of our heart. It’s a powerful message about prioritizing self-discovery over external validation.
