जहाँ काम तहाँ नाम नहिं , जहाँ नाम नहिं वहाँ काम। दोनों कबहूँ नहिं मिले , रवि रजनी इक धाम॥ 84॥
— Kabir
Meaning
Where there is desire (or action), there is no name (or divine presence); and where there is no name, there is desire. These two things never meet, whether in the sun or the night.
Explanation
Kabir suggests that desire and the Divine Name (or reality) are fundamentally opposed. Where desire resides, the Divine Name cannot exist, and where the Divine Name is present, desire is absent. These two forces, much like the sun and the night, never coexist at the same time. Kabir's message is that true liberation requires us to see beyond this duality.
