Akha Bhagat 13

સેજ સ્વભાવે વાતજ કરે
અખા ગુરુપણું મનમાં નવ ધરે.
By nature, the bed itself speaks (to the mind), O Akha, do not hold guru-hood in your heart.

ગુરુ થઇ મૂરખ જગમાં ફરે
બ્રહ્મવેત્તાની નિંદા કરે;

ભૂતકાળમાં જે થઇ ગયા
તેની મનમાં ઇચ્છે મયા;
What has transpired in days of old,Their minds for mercy now unfold.
Whatever transpired in the past, their minds now long for mercy.

અખા વેલી કે મ ટાળે વ્યથા
જે નિત્ય વાંચે મડદાની કથા.
Akha, how can the body shed its pain,That daily reads the stories of the dead again?
Akha asks, how can the body shed its pain if it constantly reads the stories of the dead? The couplet suggests that dwelling on past miseries or others' misfortunes prevents one from overcoming their own suffering.

જે પગલાં અગ્નિમાં જળે
તેને શર્ણે કાળ કે મ ટળે ;
Those steps that in the fire burn,How can even Fate their claim adjourn?
Actions or destinies forged through immense hardship become inevitable. Even fate itself cannot alter or postpone the outcomes of such deeply established paths.

પડતું પક્ષી રાખે આકાશ
એમ પગલાં તે આપે વાસ;
The sky sustains a falling bird,So too, footsteps provide a dwelling.
Just as the sky sustains a falling bird, similarly, footsteps ultimately provide a dwelling. It suggests that continuous movement or effort leads to finding a home.
