My ears have burst from repeatedly listening to stories, yet, O Akha, divine knowledge has still not dawned upon me.
This couplet by Akha, a wise poet, speaks about the endless pursuit of knowledge without true understanding. He says, "My ears are tired from constantly hearing stories and discourses." Despite all this listening, he laments, "true spiritual wisdom, or Brahmajnana, has still not dawned upon me." Akha highlights a common human experience: we might consume a lot of information, read many books, or listen to countless sermons. Yet, if we don't reflect, internalize, and truly understand the essence, all that listening can feel empty. It's a gentle reminder that real wisdom comes from within, not just from external sources. It’s about experience and realization, not just accumulation.
