The ascetic who is the source of fear and sorrow, / This ascetic, with his wonderful, sacred garland.

In this beautiful couplet, Bulleh Shah addresses his brother, noting that the ascetic (jogi) is perhaps playing a trick on them. Yet, the depth of the poetry lies in the second line. Despite the apparent deception, the Shayar asserts that the bond (joorra) he shares with this particular jogi is profoundly unique and sacred. It speaks to a connection that transcends mere illusion or momentary flirtation, suggesting a destined and unbreakable spiritual tether.
