ब-नाला हासिल-ए-दिल-बस्तगी फ़राहम कर

ब-नाला हासिल-ए-दिल-बस्तगी फ़राहम कर
मता-ए-ख़ाना-ए-ज़ंजीर जुज़ सदा मा'लूम
Through lamentation, gather what your heart's bondage brings,For the house of chains is known for naught but echoing things.

ब-क़द्र-ए-हौसला-ए-इश्क़ जल्वा-रेज़ी है
वगर्ना ख़ाना-ए-आईना की फ़ज़ा मा'लूम
Beauty reveals itself as love's courage allows,Else, the state of a house of mirrors is known.
The manifestation of beauty is only according to the courage of love; otherwise, the state of a house of mirrors (that it only displays, holds nothing) is well known.

बहार दर-गिरौ-ए-ग़ुंचा शहर-ए-जौलाँ है
तिलिस्म-ए-नाज़ ब-जुज़ तंगी-ए-क़बा मा'लूम

तिलिस्म-ए-ख़ाक कमीं-गाह-ए-यक-जहाँ सौदा
ब-मर्ग तकिया-ए-आसाइश-ए-फ़ना मा'लूम
This magic dust, a world of passion's hidden snare,In death, annihilation's comfort finds a pillow there.
The enchantment of dust, a hiding place for a world's passions. Death seems to be the pillow of comfort for annihilation.

तकल्लुफ़ आइना-ए-दो-जहाँ मदारा है
सुराग़-ए-यक-न-गह-ए-क़हर-आश्ना मा'लूम
This mirror of two worlds, formality, is mere flattery's art,Yet of sudden, wrath-familiarity, a trace is known to start.
Formality is the mirror of both worlds (this and the hereafter) that is full of diplomacy or courtesy. A trace of a sudden, wrath-acquainted glimpse becomes known.

'असद' फ़रेफ्ता-ए-इंतिख़ाब-ए-तर्ज़-ए-जफ़ा
वगर्ना दिलबरी-ए-वादा-ए-वफ़ा मा'लूम
Asad, he is charmed by cruelty's chosen style,Else, the lure of a faithful promise he knows all the while.
Asad is captivated by the choice of the style of cruelty, otherwise, the charm of the promise of faithfulness is well-known.
