Ghazal
This ghazal suggests that true 'perfection' or 'greatness' does not lie in pure logic (tark) but rather in the depth of emotional experience and longing (aab-o-gilla). The poet emphasizes that genuine 'poverty' (faqr) is a state of richness, suggesting that emotional and spiritual states are more valuable than material wealth or political power.

The enchantment of logic is not from the water and garden of separation; the enchantment of logic is the conquest of the dust and the luminous.
The brilliance of logic is neither from the water and garden of separation, nor is it the brilliance that comes from conquering the dust and the luminous.

Who knows that the manifestation is the very essence of intoxication.
O physician, O sage, O Sufi, all you intoxicated by the Divine Presence, who knows that the manifestation is the very essence of intoxication.

If they are benevolent, even the cage-bower is freedom,
But if not, even the garden-mind is a place of compulsion.
If they are benevolent, even the cage-bower is freedom; but if not, even the garden-mind is a place of compulsion.
