Ghazal
Kabir Sangrah 91-95
Kabir's verses convey that the divine resides within, making external searches futile, much like a musk deer unaware of its own fragrance. They advocate devotional practices (katha-kirtan) as the sole means to liberation from the cycle of existence, urging the utilization of this transient life for serving saints or praising God, thereby harnessing the mind's potential for spiritual realization.

Your Lord in you, like a young fawn in musk's scent,
Like a deer for musk, constantly searching for grass.
Your Lord resides within you, just like a young fawn in the scent of musk; similarly, the deer constantly searches for grass.

Kabira, this body is passing away, if you can, find a place for it. What service can be rendered to the saint, or the praises of Govind sung?
Kabira, this body is departing; if possible, find it a resting place. What service can be rendered to the saint, or the glories of Govind sung?

The body is full of the mind's sorrow, like a crow's feather, whose aim is to fly a million miles. Sometimes the path of righteousness is inaccessible, sometimes the sky is filled with it.
The body is weighed down by the sorrow of the mind, like a crow's feather aiming to fly a million miles. Sometimes the path of righteousness is inaccessible, and sometimes the sky itself is filled with it.

Where a true buyer is, I'm not,Where I would buy, no one's been got.The foolish mind in error strays,Catching but shadows of wordy ways. Many who preach, I've come across,But none who practice, to their cost.So let such speaker pass and be,Who grasps no truth, nor lives it free.
Where the customer (buyer) is not present, I am not the customer. The fool wanders in delusion, trying to catch the shadow of words. Much was gained by speaking, but nothing was truly acquired. He speaks what cannot be grasped.
