પેદા થયો છું ઢુંઢવા તુંને, સનમ!
ઉમ્મર ગુઝારી ઢુંઢતાં તુંને સનમ!
I was born to find you, my beloved!My life I spent searching for you, my beloved!

છે દુશ્મનો લાખો ભુલાવા રાહને,
દુશ્મન બનાવી યાર અંજાયો, સનમ!
Millions of foes there are to lead me astray from the path,But having made my friend an enemy, I was bewildered, O beloved!

ગફલત મહીં હું, ઝાલિમો કાબિલ એ,
જુદાઈ યારોની મઝા એને, સનમ!
Lost in heedlessness am I, a state befitting the cruel;They find delight in the parting of companions, O beloved!
I am lost in heedlessness, a state befitting the cruel. O beloved, they find delight in the separation of friends.

જે રાહદારીમાં અમોને લૂટતું,
ઉમેદ બર આવો નહીં એની, સનમ!
May the one who robbed us on the path,Oh beloved, never find their hopes fulfilled!
Oh beloved, may the hopes of the one who robbed us on the path never come to fruition.

તારી મદદ કોને હશે? માલૂમ નહીં,
શું યારના દુશ્મન સહે યારી? સનમ!
To whom will your aid be? It is unknown,Can a friend's foe bear amity, my love?
It is unknown who will receive your aid. My love, can the enemy of a friend truly bear friendship?

પાંચે નમાઝે ઝૂકતાં તારે કદમ,
આડા ફરે છે બેખુદાઓ એ સનમ!
In five prayers, they bow before your feet,Yet the godless stray away, O beloved!
In all five daily prayers, people bow down before your feet. Yet, O beloved, the godless still turn away and go their own path.

છો દમ બ દમ ખંજર રમે તારૂં દિલે,
કાફર તણું કાતિલ ખેંચી લે, સનમ!
Though your dagger plays in my heart, moment by moment,O beloved, withdraw the killer from this infidel.
Even though your dagger continuously plays in my heart, O beloved, please withdraw the killer from this infidel.

તું માફ કર, દિલદાર! દેવાદાર છું:
છે માફ દેવાદારને મારા, સનમ!
Forgive me, beloved! I am a debtor:My debtors are forgiven, my love!
Beloved, please forgive me, as I am indebted to you. Just as I forgive my own debtors, I hope you will also forgive me.

કાંઈ નઝરબક્ષી થવી લાઝિમ તને,
ગુઝરાનનો ટુકડો ઘટે દેવો, સનમ!
Some favor it is proper for you to grant,A piece for sustenance you ought to give, beloved!
It is proper for you to bestow some favor. Beloved, you ought to give a piece for sustenance.

પેદા થઈને ના ચૂમી તારી હિના,
પેદા થયો છું મોતમાં જાણે, સનમ!
Though born, I never kissed your henna, my dear,It's as if I was born into death, O love!
Though I was born, I never had the chance to kiss your henna. It feels as if, my love, I was born into death itself.

શાને કસે છે મુફત આ લાચારને?
દાવો સુનાનો છે હમારો ના, સનમ!
Why do you needlessly torment this helpless soul?Our claim is not of gold, O beloved!
Why do you unnecessarily torment this helpless person? Our desire, O beloved, is not for gold.

પથ્થર બની પેદા થયો છું પહાડમાં,
છું ચાહનારો એ ય તુંથી છું, સનમ!
A stone I was born, within the mountain's embrace, This very love I hold, beloved, springs from your grace!
I was born as a stone within the mountain, and even this love that I possess is derived from you, my beloved.
