Ghazal
This ghazal speaks about people who desire precious things from you, yet they disturb their own peace in the pursuit of those desires. The speaker notes that they too are deeply engrossed in the intoxication of love, but constantly struggle. Finally, the poem emphasizes the sanctity of friendship and the difficulty of the speaker's own peculiar tastes, which are not easily praised despite being observed.

The heavy desires that people have for you,
Are the very diseases they cultivate within themselves.
The heavy desires that people harbor for you are the very diseases or troubles they cultivate within their own hearts.

In that intoxicating state, though we have been for ages, / Yet we keep pulling the thread, still weaving.
In that intoxicating state, though we have been for ages, yet we keep pulling the thread and weaving every moment.

Our neck is bound by the thread of friendship,
We will uphold it as long as we live.
Our neck is bound by the thread of friendship; we will uphold this bond as long as we live.

My liking is not so easy, nor is it difficult,
For those who see you, praise me.
My liking is neither so easy nor so difficult, for those who see you and praise me.

The days have passed when nights were cut from the drains,
Now the unsteady 'Mir'-sahib groans something.
The days have passed when nights were cut from the drains; now the unsteady 'Mir'-sahib groans something.
