In my heart, I recall your dark locks and visage so much,
It makes me weep, both in the morning and in the evening.
In my heart, I deeply recall your dark locks and face, and because of that, I cry both morning and evening.

Not even the touch of the master poet (Sayyad) was enough for me to reach; / For my restlessness (be-qarari) has taken me deeply into the abyss.
I could not even reach the touch of the master poet (Sayyad) while alive; / My restlessness has taken me deep into the abyss.

From one glance to another, this whirl of the ocean,
This whirl of the days keeps rising high, oh so much.
From one glance to another, this commotion of the sea, and this whirl of the days remains very high on the head.

I am so overwhelmed that I have many tasks remaining.
The brilliance of the heart, the passion of the liver, the whirl of the emotions, the flow of the blood—I am so overwhelmed that I have many tasks remaining.

Seeing the sheer grace upon your spectacles, I have become so infatuated; the tavern-songs, I had heard many tales of the cup.
Seeing the sheer grace upon your spectacles, I have become so infatuated; the tavern-songs, I had heard many tales of the cup.

If I don't return to the dust, O Meer, let my tears be purified,
Perhaps beneath the earth, there is much rest.
If I do not return to the dust, O Meer, let my tears be purified. Perhaps beneath the earth, there is much rest.
