O ocean-drinkers! Spill not the offering from your cupped hands, dear sir!Your life has flowed, borne by inexhaustible trust.
O ocean-drinkers, do not spill the offering held in your cupped hands. Your life has flowed, sustained by inexhaustible trust.

From rogues and deceivers, a downfall was met; While the foe, upon the lap, now peacefully slept.
Due to rogues and deceivers, a downfall was met; meanwhile, the enemy lay in their lap, sleeping peacefully.

Upon this final pillow, I am ready to surrender my head, O Baapu! Let them even sever my neck; our priority is to gauge the enemy's mind.

In this new-era's ocean, churned by gods and foes,What fate awaits the greedy for its jewels, who knows?
In this modern age's ocean-churning, driven by both divine and demonic forces, what fate awaits those who are greedy for its treasures? It questions the outcome for people solely focused on material gain during times of great turmoil.

Without you, Shambhu, who will drink this poisoned bowl?Hurry, let the venom swiftly reach your very soul!
Without you, Shambhu, who will drink this bowl of poison? Hurry, let the venom quickly descend to your heart.

O mild and fierce! O dreadful, soft! Away now, friend! The world will ask: 'Have the yogi's powers reached their end?'
O you who are both mild and fierce, dreadful and soft! Go away now, friend. The world will wonder if the yogi's spiritual powers or discipline have come to an end.

Have the oceans dried to naught? Have the clouds no more rain?Has the sky run out of oil for the sun and moon's bright reign?
Have the oceans dried up and the clouds run out of water? Has the sky exhausted the oil that fuels the sun and moon?

Seeing our sorrows, do not hesitate, O Father!Much have we borne, and more we shall bear: do not waver, O Father!
Witnessing our pain, do not falter, Father! We have endured much, and more we shall; do not waver.

Whips, confiscation, fines, and the rod's harsh blow,Prisons, living graveyards, where spirits lie low.
Whips, confiscation, fines, and beatings with sticks; prisons are like living graveyards.

The occasional spray of shots, the firing's sound-All that has now grown old, accustomed to the ground, O Sire!
The occasional spray of shots and the sound of firing have become commonplace; people are now accustomed to them, O Sire!
12
Our hearts were like flowers, but you forged them in iron, father! What happened - bring the doll from there - or not, it matters little!
Our hearts were as tender as flowers, but you, father, forged them into iron. Now, it matters little whether a doll is brought from there or not.

Kisses I'll give you, though you come empty-handed!My passionate arms around your neck I'll entwine!
I will give you kisses, even if you come empty-handed. I will entwine my passionate arms around your neck.

Father, this harshness or difficulty is for your healing and well-being. Go forth and bravely face the challenge, much like taming a raging bull.

O Bapu, you light the path through the dense, dark woods. You also caress the fearsome, maned beast.
