If you ever come near us, with our grace,
Be gentle in your manner, dear to all human race.
If you ever come near us, with our grace, be gentle in your manner, dear to all human race.

Do you wander in the shadows of trees, far and wide,
Or grant your consent to some unleafed-and-unstrung art?
Do you wander in the shadows of trees, far and wide, or grant your consent to some unleafed-and-unstrung art?

It was not good for me to live a life in separation from her,
Lest I should slip away from this long life's span.
It was not good for me to live a life separated from her, lest I should carelessly slip away during this long span of life.

O lord of the morning's beauty, the knots of the heart never open, / Why are you yourself so excessive, that you abandon your daily prayers?
O lord of the morning's beauty, the knots of the heart never open, / Why are you yourself so excessive, that you abandon your daily prayers?

It makes holes, holes in our whole heart,
Just look at your half-tempting demeanor.
Seeing your half-tempting demeanor makes holes in our entire heart.

If you have control over the heart, then never do love to it,
Keep away from this fatal, soul-consuming ailment.
If you have control over the heart, then never do love to it; keep away from this fatal, soul-consuming ailment.

Laying out the mat, they would bring the sword and the axe,
They would spill the blood with a unique distinction.
Laying out the mat, they would bring the sword and the axe, doing it as if the blood was being shed with a unique distinction.

Why should they assume that in the love of the blood-soaked mountain, there is a special bond from the eye's revelation of secrets?
Why should they assume that in the love of the blood-soaked mountain, there is a special bond from the eye's revelation of secrets?

Perhaps in the tavern, at night, 'Mir' was present,
Playing a game with a coin taken from the prayer mat.
