Ghazal
This ghazal meditates on the transient nature of life and the perils of pride through the poignant metaphor of a fragile bubble shattered by the waves. It captures human vulnerability in the face of destiny while celebrating the profound power of love and passion that keeps the weary wanderer moving forward.

Such was the fate of the bubble that rose puffed up with pride, as the slap of the wave cries out: 'Where did that haughty head hide?'
This became the ultimate fate of the bubble that rose swelled with air, as the slap of the wave cries out asking where that proud head has vanished.

My heart’s deep passion sustained me whenever my footsteps went astray; ardent longing granted me wings whenever exhaustion halted my way.
Whenever I went astray and took a wrong step, the deep passion of my heart supported me, and whenever I stopped out of exhaustion, my intense longing gave me wings.
3
If between my youth and age there lies any difference at all, 'tis merely this: a fleeting gust of morning breeze swept past my side and was gone.
For me, the only difference between youth and old age is simply this: youth was like a gust of morning breeze that swiftly swept past me.
4
To whom can I convey the spell her coquettish grace has cast? I only yearn for death, while she presumes that I have died.
How can I explain the effect of her coquetry and airs? I only long for death, yet she mistakenly believes that I am already dead.
5
O preacher of the garden, in your sermon of longing you do not see, that every leaf of the rose's book has scattered in your ecstasy.
O preacher of the garden, lost in your passionate speech, you do not realize that every page (petal) of the rose's book has scattered because of your ecstasy.
6
To whom do you preach, dear companion, that her wiles ruin reason and creed? / I take you entirely at your word—see, I am terrified indeed!
O companion, whom are you trying to warn that the beloved's charms destroy intellect and faith? I believe what you say, as though I have truly been frightened by your warning.
7
Why should I speak of youth? Who would listen to this tale of a dream? / It was a night that passed away, an intoxication that wore off.
Why should I speak of youth, and who would listen to this tale of a dream? It was simply a night that passed by, and an intoxication that wore off.
8
My frail heart had no strength to bear the wearying toll of strain; / Having survived the grief of waiting, the glad tidings of union slew me.
My frail heart had no strength to endure any strain or exhaustion. Although I survived the sorrow of waiting, the joyful news of union overwhelmed me to death.
9
Before my patience and fortitude, no throng of fear and hope could stay; that lightning merely flashed and died, that roaring cloud just passed away.
In the face of my patience and endurance, the throng of fears and hopes vanished; the lightning merely flashed and faded, and the thundering cloud simply passed away.
10
I care not to cross the sea of grief, O healer of my pain; no remedy avails me now, the waters have risen above my head.
O my healer, I no longer worry about crossing the ocean of sorrow. No remedy can work now, for the water has already risen above my head.
11
Ask not what sweet delight I found in keeping love's deep secret fast; a sip of honeyed wine it was, that smoothly down my throat has passed.
Do not ask about the delight I experienced in concealing the secret of love; it was like a sip of honeyed wine that slid smoothly down my throat.
12
No friendship lingers in this world today; if paths should cross along the way, / Neither has any care for the other—one walks this side, the other drifts away.
There is no true friendship left in this world anymore; even if people happen to cross paths along the way, they have no concern for each other—one goes this way, and the other goes that way.
13
If the fury has vanished upon arrival, it was a fire that flared only to subside; / If the fervor of jealousy has waned, this venom surged only to decline.
If the anger has subsided after arriving, it was merely a fire that ignited only to go out; and if the frenzy of jealousy has cooled down, then this poison surged only to recede.
14
O Nazm, in the valley of passion, why such futile caution do you show? Here, catching yourself just as you stumble; there, halting mid-stride as you go.
O Nazm, such excessive caution is useless in the valley of passion, where you repeatedly regain your balance right as you stumble and halt midway in your stride.
